From Corroborating Impact to Evaluating Research

Abstract

This presentation will outline the changing ways in which the Faculty of Arts at Leeds has responded to the impact agenda, since it was introduced as a criterion of assessment by both HEFCE and RCUK. It will highlight some of the challenges we faced during the REF2014 assessment period of having to find corroboration for research retrospectively and how we are currently attempting to effect a culture change in which the development and corroboration of impact is integrated into the normal cycle of research. In the processes we are seeking to foster a holistic approach to the evaluation of research.
