HKU - Hongdu MOU Signing Ceremony
The HKU-Hongdu MOU signing ceremony was well attended by high-profile individuals from both academia and industries. Key attendees included HKU Vice President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) Prof Max Shen, Prof Xiaobo Yin, and several others. From Hongdu Aviation, the attendees present were Chairman Ms Xu Yanling, General Manager Mr Wang Liang, and Ms Zha Xiaolan representing Gongqing City. The ceremony, facilitated by Versitech and TEC, was a success, featuring fruitful discussions on the low-altitude economy's future development. Through the MOU signing, both parties have taken a significant step in fostering a closer relationship between Hongdu Aviation and HKU.

Gotion visit
Together with HKQAI, Versitech hosted the visit of Gotion, a leading company on battery technologies. The focuses of the visit were to 1) strengthen the relationship through in-person interaction 2) conduct open and constructive discussion to further accelerate the founding of joint lab between HKU and Gotion. The meeting was engaging and productive that it extended to one extra hour where key points were thoroughly elaborated and mutual understanding was achieved. This signifies a crucial step towards closer collaboration between HKU and Gotion.

Meeting with Inspur/Magspin and Professor Ed Wu
On June 28, 2024, Versitech hosted an informative meeting with specialised MRI equipment distributor, Magspin led by Prof Ed Wu, Chair Professor of HKU's Biomedical Engineering. Being one of the leaders of MRI manufacturers in China, the General Manager Ms. Liu Wenmei of Magspin introduced its history, their vision and future development plan. Prof. Wu shared his research focuses, recent publications and engaged in a lively discussion with Magspin to provide valuable insights on the practical applications. The introductory meeting is expected to open up further discussions about potential collaboration opportunities.

Meeting with Westwell and Professor Fu Zhang
On June 28, 2024, Versitech hosted a highly engaging meeting with Chinese AI logistics firm Westwell led by Prof Fu Zhang from HKU's Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr Sun, the CTO of Westwell, confidently presented an overview of the company, including its advanced technologies, solutions, and extensive global footprint. Prof Zhang assertively shared his research focus, recent developments, and impactful publications, while also providing valuable feedback and insightful perspectives. Westwell remained optimistic to the diverse collaboration approaches offered at HKU, and the meeting is set to pave the way for further robust discussions.

Gear Up Startup Programme Graduation Ceremony and HKU Demo Day 2024
HKU's Techno-Entrepreneurship Core (TEC) proudly hosted the Gear Up Graduation Ceremony, Showcase, and HKU Demo Day on 27 June 2024, at HKU's Centennial Campus. This remarkable event united a diverse mix of ambitious entrepreneurs, influential industry figures, keen investors, and esteemed university faculty to honour the remarkable achievements of the HKU TEC programmes.

2024 Innovalley HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge - First KT forum
The 2024 Innovalley HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge is launched in full swing. HKU's TEC and the Institute for China Business (HKU ICB) have organised a series of knowledge transfer forums to facilitate exchanges in the field of science and technology innovation. The first forum held on 5th July 2024 focused on Artificial Intelligence and new energy, and was successfully held with a live streaming audience of over 3,000 people.

HKU iDendron has recently launched yet another impressive new co-working space in Wan Chai, strategically positioned next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). iDendron@WanChai marks as a formidable collaboration with Wuxi Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Centre (Surrich International Company Limited), offering an exceptional co-working space for iDendron members.
