TEC showcased over 30 innovative startups at the HKTDC Entrepreneur Day 2025. The event, which attracted more than 450 attendees, highlighted HKU’s research and entrepreneurial initiatives across sectors such as healthcare, advanced materials, and environmental solutions. Notable startups such as DiamNEX and ReGen Technology showcased their cutting-edge technologies to tackle global challenges. Prof. Stephanie Ma Associate Vice-President (Research and Innovation) of HKU and TEC's Director, Dr. Paul Wang emphasised the importance of supporting young innovators to create impactful businesses and foster collaboration within the Greater Bay Area.

Cyberport HK GBA Young Entrepreneurship Info Session 

On 25 November 2025, more than 50 passionate entrepreneurs and innovators gathered at HKU to explore the opportunities presented by Cyberport’s Greater Bay Area Young Entrepreneurship Programme (GBA YEP). The session offered an in-depth overview of Cyberport’s support ecosystem, highlighting the GBA YEP. Participants learned about the three main stages of the programme. Delegation from Digital Penang TusStar Malaysia, and Malaysia Startup to HKU TEC

TEC was delighted to host the delegation from Digital Penang TusStar Malaysia, a Malaysian startup at HKU TEC's iDendron. The visit encouraged cross-border knowledge exchange and collaboration, with welcome remarks from TEC Director, Dr. Paul Wang and Mr. Chong Seng Lim, Digital Penang's Director, Ecosystem Development. A notable moment was Utkarsh Goel from Clear Robotics presenting their cutting-edge deep tech solutions. The discussions were vibrant, and more regional partnerships to promote innovation are in the pipeline.

HKU continues to exemplify leadership in HealthTech innovation at Hong Kong FinTech Week x StartmeupHK Festival 2025. Our teams and alumni demonstrated their expertise at the HealthTech Forum, with contributions from Barry Wang (Quantum Life) on AI and longevity, Serena Yang (AILSI) on AI-driven drug discovery, and Joseph Ho (HKU TEA), who moderated a critical fundraising panel. Notable innovations include AILSI’s AI-based drug discovery platform and Quantum Life’s personalised longevity solutions. HKU TEC commends the participating representatives for exemplifying HKU’s significant impact on health and technology.

Financial Community Entrepreneurship Competition

Financial Community Entrepreneurship Competition 

TEC is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the China Merchants Happy Community – Financial Entrepreneurship Competition on 22 November 2025. Organised by the Kowloon City Youths Association and co-organised by HKU TEC, iDendron and the Techno-Entrepreneurship Academy, the event was sponsored by China Merchants Charitable Foundation. Ten secondary school teams competed in real-world business cases, showcasing creativity and business skills. Congratulations to the winners: St. Clare's Girls' School (Champion), The Harbour School Hong Kong (First Runner-up), and Youth College (International) (Second Runner-up). The event promotes business literacy and practical skills among youth, fostering future entrepreneurs.

27th China Hi-Tech Fair

HKU teams participated in the 27th China Hi-Tech Fair, with HKU TEA showcasing its latest technological innovations at the Qianhai Innovation Pavilion. Notably, HKUIT and Party Day received the Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Innovation Award for their contributions to research and innovation. The event highlighted HKU’s efforts to scale and commercialise research-driven technologies across the Greater Bay Area.

HKU Startup Legal Day, in partnership with King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), was held on 11 November 2025, bringing together over 20 startups for in-person and online sessions. Esteemed KWM lawyers provided expert guidance on company formation, fundraising terms, and employee incentives, complemented by 1:1 consultations. The event enhanced entrepreneurs’ legal knowledge and support networks, fostering stronger startup growth.

Entrepreneurship Academy 2025 Round-up

The Entrepreneurship Academy 2025 at HKU drew to a successful close after three months of intensive startup training. Featuring a series of lectures, over 1,300 participants engaged with industry experts, including Dr. Lu Qi from MiraclePlus and Edith Yeung from Race Capital, who provided valuable insights into entrepreneurship and venture capital. Highlights included discussions on company design, execution, and funding strategies in an informal Q&A format. The Academy culminated with a mixer hosted by HKSTP, fostering networking opportunities among emerging entrepreneurs. This initiative reinforced HKU TEC's commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators.
