Grand Finale of 2025 HKU Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge Showcases Top 20 Global Teams
The 2025 HKU International Techno Entrepreneurship Challenge concluded successfully on campus, attracting over 600 onsite attendees and more than 500,000 online viewers. Out of 253 global submissions, 20 finalist teams showcased innovative projects, notably in medical technology. The event highlighted groundbreaking solutions such as portable stroke detection devices and tissue-engineered vascular grafts, emphasising HKU’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and technology transfer in entrepreneurship.

HKU Teams Advance to Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund #JUMPSTARTER 2026 Grand Finale!
We proudly celebrate HKU’s outstanding achievement at the JUMPSTARTER 2026 Grand Finale! Eight HKU teams have qualified, with two in the Global Pitch Top 30 and six in the Zpire Top 30, showcasing innovation and entrepreneurial talent. Congratulations to Knobase, Kedoom Technologies, and all student finalists across areas such as mental health, FoodTech, SportTech, and more. Join us at the HKU Pavilion on March 12–13 to support our startups and take part in key events, including the HKU Super Angel Symposium and Demo Day.

Tech Up X HKU Startup Legal Day X Cooley LLP: Essential Legal Strategies for Startups
TEC hosted Tech Up X HKU Startup Legal Day in partnership with Cooley LLP on 19 January 2026, attracting 36 startups both onsite and online. The event offered valuable legal sessions and one-on-one consultations to help early-stage entrepreneurs address key legal matters. This initiative underscores HKU’s commitment to equipping startups with essential legal knowledge to support their future growth.

HKU Shines at the Hong Kong Techathon+ 10th Edition!
HKU teams achieved outstanding success at the Hong Kong Techathon+ 10th Edition in January 2026. HKU secured 18 awards out of 46, including 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze, and 10 Merit awards. These achievements highlight HKU’s dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, reinforcing its leadership in advancing technology and sustainable solutions on a global scale.

TEC hosted a vibrant Open Day at iDendron@HKU, a dynamic campus co-working space on campus on 30 January 2026. Visitors explored the facilities and learned about the resources available to support aspiring entrepreneurs. A key highlight was an exclusive startup IP workshop with Clarivate, which focused on maximising intellectual property and market opportunities. This event demonstrates TEC’s dedication to fostering innovation through comprehensive support, networking, and knowledge-sharing for future entrepreneurs.

MedTech Hackathon GBA 2026
The MedTech Hackathon GBA 2026 aims to empower researchers to transform innovative ideas into market-ready solutions. Multidisciplinary teams will receive expert training, mentorship, and access to investors, funding, and corporate partners through the Lean Launcher Training Programme. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit industry hubs in Suzhou and Guangzhou, fostering networking and collaboration. Selected teams will be invited to showcase their solutions at Hong Kong’s premier healthcare event, the Asian Summit of Global Health (ASGH), on 11-12 May 2026, presenting to industry leaders. The 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
One of the largest student competitions in Hong Kong, this event offers a total prize fund exceeding HK$500,000. Award-winning projects will have the opportunity to represent Hong Kong at two prestigious national competitions—the Challenge Cup and the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition—as well as at three international invention exhibitions and competitions held in Singapore (WoSG), Indonesia (IID), and Korea (SIIF).

Cyberport University Partnership Programme 2026
