Empowers Future Entrepreneurship: Lean Launcher Training for DeepTech100+ X GHFD
A Lean Launcher Bootcamp recently gathered over 30 teams from the DeepTech100+ and The Global Hub for Future Dentistry (GHFD) programmes to commence their market validation journey. Teams will conduct customer interviews, refine their business models, and gain real-world insights with mentor guidance over five weeks. The event included practical training in Lean Launch methodologies and interactive feedback sessions with industry mentors, encouraging innovation and strategic growth.

Global Hub for Future Dentistry – Final Assessment Highlights
The Global Hub for Future Dentistry (GHFD), co-hosted by HKU’s Faculty of Dentistry, HKU TEC, and HKSTP, held its final assessment, showcasing innovative ideas from over 40 applicants across nine countries. Thirteen teams were selected to join the programme. With expert research, entrepreneurial guidance, and strong support, GHFD aims to accelerate dental innovations into start-ups. Congratulations to the awarded teams, and heartfelt thanks are extended to all participants and panel members for their dedication.

Spotlight on Expertise – “Venture Investment’s Thematic Focus: AI”
The fourth session of the Angel Investing 101 Workshop Series centred on "Venture Investment’s Thematic Focus: AI," attracted over 80 participants on 5 February 2026. Renowned speakers, including Bain Capital Ventures' Matt Harris, discussed AI investment trends, while Gobi Partners' Fred Li and Lain Yao highlighted the Greater Bay Area's role in global AI competition. From Classroom to Business: Your Entrepreneurial Journey
HKU TEC hosted an information session on launching entrepreneurial careers, sharing insights into startup programmes such as HKU Seed, the 12th HKU Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition, and the TCS Spark Programme on 3 February 2026. The event highlighted resources for early-stage startups, with prizes valued at over HKD 500,000 and opportunities to compete nationally and internationally.

HKU Super Angel Symposium 2026: University‑Led Deep‑Tech & Venture Mentoring Summit
HKU’s Super Angel Symposium 2026 brought together leaders from government, industry, investment and research across two days to advance Hong Kong’s university-driven innovation ecosystem; the event launched the HKU Venture Mentoring Service (a MIT-authorised VMS sister programme) and the “FutureTech Stars – HKU Venture LPF” with CASSTAR to provide patient capital for deep-tech, featured keynote talks by Dr Qiubin Lin on translating research to real-world impact and Dr Mi Lei on his vision for building a collaborative "rainforest ecosystem" for core technology ventures, and hosted panels and fireside chats where founders from BioX, BodyNova, GreenPrice, Agewhale and others shared candid lessons on building mission-led, future-technology startups.

HKU Alumni Day 2026: Celebrating 115 Years and Innovation
The 2026 HKU Alumni Day celebrated HKU’s 115th anniversary and drew over 5,000 alumni back to campus; across more than 80 booths and activities. HKU TEC showcased the University’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, where esteemed alumni and partners were warmly greeted at its booth. Big appreciation to all staff, student helpers and collaborators—particularly members of the Super Angel Network—for making the celebration a success.
External Opportunities

The 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
This event, which is among Hong Kong's largest student competitions, features a prize pool exceeding HK$500,000. Winners will have the opportunity to represent Hong Kong at two notable national events—the Challenge Cup and the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition—as well as at three international invention exhibitions and competitions in Singapore (WoSG), Indonesia (IID), and Korea (SIIF).
