HKU Signs MoU with Suzhou Kowloon Hospital
HKU and Suzhou Kowloon Hospital, part of the Hong Kong Kowloon Group, signed an MoU on 12 March 2026 to establish the "HKU - Suzhou Innovation Corridor," fostering collaboration in MedTech and clinical research. The partnership focuses on four key areas: incubating medical start-ups, supporting innovative projects through joint investments, facilitating technology transfer via shared facilities, and promoting cross-border training programs to develop future industry talent.
The signing took place in Suzhou Industrial Park, with leaders including HKU’s Associate Vice President, Prof. Alice Wong, Hong Kong Kowloon Group’s Chairman Eric Sun, and Suzhou Industrial Park’s Director Jiang Weiming present. Dr. Paul Wang of HKU TEC and Vice President Jun Wang of Kowloon Group signed the MoU, aiming to drive medical technological breakthroughs through industry-academia-research-investment integration.
Prof.Wong expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to translate HKU’s research into community benefits. Mr Sun emphasised the commitment to combining clinical expertise with innovation, fostering global healthcare technology projects. Mr Jiang highlighted the park’s focus on biomedical innovation, supporting HKU projects from collaboration to commercialisation.
Supported initiatives include the "MedTech Hackathon GBA 2026," promoting biomedical innovation and regional collaboration. HKU TEC, established in 2023, leads this effort, supporting over 500 startups and fostering a vibrant innovation ecosystem.

2nd HKU Super Angel Network Investors Meetup
The 2nd HKU Super Angel Network Investors Meetup on 13 March 2026 brought together over 40 investors and HKU startups. The event featured four pitch sessions, active investor engagement, and vibrant networking, reinforcing HKU SAN’s mission to support startup growth through investments and mentorship. HKU Demo Day X Jumpstarter 2026
HKU Demo Day X Jumpstarter 2026 on 13 March 2026 showcased innovative startups, including BiomOrgan Limited and NextopolyTech Ltd, with outstanding pitches. The event fostered connections among VCs, industry experts, and entrepreneurs, ith esteemed judges providing support. Congratulations to all teams for their creativity and dedication.

Successful launch of Gobi-HKU Fund
We are excited to launch Gobi–HKU Fund I and celebrate the successful first closing of the HKU Entrepreneurship Engine Fund × Gobi Partners at the event on 24 March 2026. Celebrating creativity and impact, the event highlights HKU’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of changemakers and advancing social enterprise in Hong Kong.

Medtech Hackathon GBA 2026
HKU MedTech Hackathon GBA 2026 brought HKU and Baycharm researcher teams to Suzhou to explore its vibrant life sciences scene. The visit included tours of key innovation hubs like BioBAY and BioSpark, meetings with clinical partners at Suzhou Kowloon Hospital, and participation in BIOCHINA 2026. Teams engaged in pitching sessions, networking, and discussions on collaboration opportunities with industry experts and investors. The trip provided valuable insights, feedback, and connections to support the growth of emerging startups. The programme promotes cross-border collaboration to accelerate the development of medical technologies from concept to market.
