ISD visits HKU
On 16 May 2026, the Information Services Department (ISD) of the Hong Kong SAR Government visited HKU, offering a compelling glimpse into the university’s vibrant ecosystem of technological entrepreneurship and pioneering research across fields such as biotechnology, advanced materials, medical devices, and semiconductors. Led by Director of TEC, Dr. Paul Wang, the delegation was given a tour of state-of-the-art facilities and engaged with some of HKU’s most innovative researchers, including Dr. Xia Jin, Prof. Lourence Chu, Prof. Kenneth Cheung, Prof. Nicholas Fang, and Dr. Yi Wang. The visit underscored HKU’s dedication to commercialising research and building international partnerships.

HKU TEC Showcases Innovation at InnoEX 2026
The HKU TEC participated in InnoEX 2026, Asia's premier technology event, showcasing a range of innovative solutions developed by its teams. Among the highlights were ventures such as KAPIDA, which merges art and technology through NFC products; Manifold Tech Limited, specialising in spatial intelligence; PipeScan AI, focusing on autonomous robotics for infrastructure inspection; and Quantum Life, which combines artificial intelligence with healthcare. This event vividly demonstrated HKU's ongoing dedication to advancing technological innovation and fostering entrepreneurship.

The InnoX PLUS X HKU TEC - AI & Innovation Highlight Hong Kong’s Startup Momentum
The InnoX PLUS: AI & Innovation event attracted over 360 participants, including innovators, students, and industry leaders, highlighting the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit in Hong Kong. The event featured four distinguished speakers who shared insights on AI development and its integration into the ecosystem. Organised in collaboration with Hong Kong X Foundation and HK InnoX Academy, the event demonstrated the region’s growing momentum in AI and startup innovation, with further activities anticipated.
DeepTech100+ Cohort 6 and Global Hub for Future Dentistry concluded their Lean Launcher Training Programme
On 27 April 2026, the DeepTech100+ Cohort 6 and the Global Hub for Future Dentistry wrapped up their Lean Launcher Training Programme with final pitches that showcased impressive progress in market validation and customer discovery. Led by experienced mentors, teams refined their business proposals, highlighting practical insights and innovative ideas. The event also celebrated their resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, capturing a moment of significant achievement.

Empowering Startups: Legal Insights for Successful Fundraising
HKU, in partnership with JunHe LLP, hosted a special Startup Legal Day focusing on equity financing and fundraising for startups, particularly in healthcare on 28 April 2026. The event attracted over 35 participants from HKU InnoCentres and entrepreneurs, both in person at HKSTP and online. JunHe LLP partners shared expertise on legal aspects of investment deals, transaction terms, and protecting founders' interests. The event also offered one-on-one legal consultations. This initiative aims to enhance startups' legal understanding and support their funding efforts.

Join the The 2026 HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge!
The 2026 HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge, organized by the HKU Institute for China Business and Techno-Entrepreneurship Core, is now open for applications. The competition offers seed funding, investor access, media exposure, mentorship, and networking opportunities for startups worldwide, including HKU affiliates. There are two tracks: Start-up and Growth, catering to early-stage and scaling companies. The application deadline is June 21, 2026.
