Digital Publishing - The Future of Educational Publishing in Knowledge Exchange

Abstract:
With the support of the Knowledge Exchange Fund, the HKU Press converted 32 printed books on HK society and politics into various digital formats. With these digital resources, HKUP not only can provide free access of these books to HK educators and students, but we have also expanded our visibility and influence globally by depositing our new digital resources via major eBook suppliers and selected channels for open access.
In this KE Meeting, we will share our digital publishing journey in carefully deploying the initial KE Funding to serve long-term strategic goals. We will describe the difficulties we encountered, how we solved them and brought the project to life via HKedCity in June 2010, as well as the feedback we received from our partners about how to improve the project in second phase.
